Implementation is unfinished: as reported by Bloomberg on 2026-07-06, no managing department has been designated and the DOJ Office of Legal Counsel is reviewing which agency may legally hold the assets.
Holdings figure is an estimate, not an audited public accounting — none has been published. On-chain tracking (Arkham, reported by Bitcoin.com News) puts federal holdings at 328,372 BTC; Bloomberg's 2026-07-06 report describes "more than 300,000 BTC, worth roughly $21 billion". The conservative 325,000 BTC low-end figure is retained here pending an official accounting.
